The many Ed funds throughout the nation are supported by local AAUW branches and their educational grants program. AAUW has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women. One of the world’s largest source of funding for graduate women, AAUW provides more than $3.7 million per year for more than 240 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations. Due to the generous contributions of AAUW members, a broader community of women continues to gain access to educational and economical opportunities — breaking through barriers so that all women have a fair chance.
Alameda Branch has designated the second Saturday of the month of February as the AAUW Funds Luncheon Celebration. The speaker for that occasion is chosen from a large pool of graduate women at an AAUW Northern California Luncheon meeting at the end of October (previous year). At the luncheon, the women candidates talk about their studies/research as well as their hopes for future work. The branch coordinator then fills out a form with the chosen (2) candidates names and hopes that one of those selected students will address the membership at the next February luncheon. On that specific date, Alameda Branch gratefully accepts donations to the Ed Fund by the membership. We are happy to accept donations to the fund at any time of the year by mail to our address:
